ARTIST STATEMENT

Self PortraitThe nature of Amelia’s creative process is to engage, through the body, with intuition, the subconscious, & spirit. Amelia uses dance as a medium for self-knowledge, inquiry & connection. Performance is a vehicle for currency, communion, dialogue & the movement of energy. Through imagination, embodied experience, and dialogue with the natural & supernatural, her choreographed and improvised works cultivate a deeper level of reflection and reorganization. Her pieces are rich with imagery, subtlety, absurd humor, and mystery.

To perform, is to share the experience of being present and surrendered in the flow of love and creative life force. It is to receive and redirect this energy to those around oneself without ego. Dance is medicine, it is soul work, it is ceremony, regardless of what it looks like.

Amelia enjoys facilitating creative and observational processes that bring others into deeper contact with themselves. See Classes for schedule.
